Celebrities have had numerous scandalous incidents during their careers over the years. Let’s examine the identities of these celebrities.

Winona Ryder

The actress stunned everyone when she was taken into custody in December 2001 on suspicion of stealing expensive merchandise from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. Everyone was shocked because, in addition to her being able to afford the goods, the prosecutors in the case against her stated that the store staff had witnessed her lifting items and had eventually decided to put a stop to it.

She was ultimately accused of four felonies—theft, burglary, and vandalism—for ripping the antitheft device off the clothing. She entered a plea of innocence in November 2002, but despite this, she was found guilty of theft and vandalism, given a three-year probationary period, and fined $2,700. She also had to reimburse the court and the store for over $7,000 in restitution. In June of 2004, a judge reduced her felony convictions to misdemeanors due to her good behavior and payment of fines.

Boy George

From 1982 until 1992, he was the lead vocalist for Jesus Loves You. In late 2008, he was found guilty of detaining a male escort without authorization. After taking part in a nude photo shoot, Norwegian model Audun Carlsen accused the singer, claiming that the singer beat him with a metal chain and handcuffed him to a wall.

The former singer was given a 15-month jail sentence after the London jury found in support of the model; however, he was freed after four months due to good behavior.

Paul McCartney

He took a plane from New York to Tokyo in January 1980 to set off on an 11-night tour with his band, Wings. He claimed that the marijuana was “too good to flush down the toilet,” so he brought half a pound with him.

He was detained for ten days before being deported by Japanese officials after they discovered the marijuana on him the moment he arrived. The tour was eventually canceled. He had also been arrested four times for possession of marijuana. Twice in 1972 and once in 1984 did it occur.

Hugh Grant

For acting indecently in a public setting, the prime minister in the film “Love Actually” was taken into custody. He was arrested two weeks before his scheduled appearance on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, but he remembered his promise to talk about the scandal and to promote his recently released film when he did appear on the show. He was advertising “Nine Months,” the film.

His career did not end because of his honesty. It sustained his Hollywood career.

Robert Mitchum

A few years following his Oscar nomination for his supporting performance in The Story of G.I. Joe was taken into custody and found guilty of conspiring to possess marijuana. In 1948, TIME magazine broke the story of the scandal and included a footnote defining marijuana.

In 1948, he received a sentence of two months in jail and two years of probation. After his probation, the conviction was dropped, but he did his time on an honor farm—which he compared to Palm Springs without the riff-raff.”

James Brown

The Godfather of Soul was involved in numerous legal disputes and possessed one of the most notorious mug shots in history. When he and some friends were discovered breaking into cars, he got himself arrested at the age of sixteen. In May 1988, as he became well-known as the funk master, he was accused of drug possession and weapon ownership. After a two-state car chase that resulted in the police shooting out a couple of the tires on his truck, he was arrested once more three months later.

The mug shot above is from his second arrest in January 2004 for domestic abuse.

Mel Gibson

The actor from Passion of the Christ was taken into custody for drunk driving in Malibu in July of 2006. One month later, he entered a plea of not guilty to a misdemeanor. In addition, he received a fine, a three-year probationary term, and an order to participate in an alcoholism 12-step program. But after he was stopped by the police, his anti-Semitic comments became widely publicized.

He later apologized, but in 2010 he was making headlines once more for his more outlandish comments. The arrest report, which was swiftly uploaded on TMZ, claims that he said, “Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,” when he was arrested.

Paris Hilton

She is among the famous people who have been arrested frequently in the past. She appeared in court in Las Vegas and was given a one-year probationary sentence. Her past included driving while intoxicated in Los Angeles in 2006.

She was arrested three times for driving with a suspended license months after her DUI, and in June 2007 she served time for twenty days.
